Unit Four-Modernism

1. Create a new post on your blog called "Unit Four", and then explain which of the above standards you have had the most difficulty mastering. Make specific references to the work you have done in this class in your response.

ELAALRL5 The student understands and acquires new vocabulary and uses it correctly in reading and writing-this is the standard I most have difficulty with, becuase with the vocabulary words ,it's hard to remeber what those strange words means. Also when thier in an story or something, then it's very hard to remeber them.

2. Choose one of the Modernism themes named above that you are most interested in studying: Disillusionment, the Harlem Renaissnace, The Jazz Age, or Phychoanalysis. Write a paragraph that describes why you made this choice and how you expect to see the topic you chose represented in the literature you are about to read. I chose the Jazz Age.because it seems like its about music, and i'm intrestedf into music.

3)Read the story that coresponds to the theme you chose. Chose a topic according to your interests, not the length of the story. Choosing a story because of its length is not the wisest way to approach this assignment.

I read the Mending Wall by Robert Frost-This story was kind of wired to me.It'd talking about fences and walls between to neighbors. To me,I thinks its Disillusionment, because the author have alot of idealism about his neighbors. It talks about "bad fences make good neighbors",because the other neighbors only fix the fence ne a time in a year.I gesss the fence is keeping each otehr neighbor from each other privacy.

4)Richard Corey by Edwin Arlington Robinson-This is a good peom. It's about a rich man in this town, that ewveryone really looks up to,and they wants to be him.But at the end of the poem it says he puts' a bullet through his head.So it seems like the man wasnt happy about hisself.
A Dream Deferred by Langston Hughes-Yea,this poem is like Dullusion,it seem like he had a dream, but he woke up,and he ask about it.EX:Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun? Or fester like a sore-- And then run?
The Negro Speaks of Rivers by Langston Hughes-This Poem seems likes it's based on a slave ,that running away for freedome or something. He talks about all the rivers, and in the early years.for EX:heard the singing of the Mississippi when Abe Lincoln went down to New Orleans,This had to be an early slave ,to know about Abe Lincoln.
Incident by Countee Cullen-This poem is hard to tell what it is.But it talks about a man named Countee Cullen life and his life expericenses,of being a young black poet. And how he went from a young man to an older man throughout life.Ex:Countee Cullen was considered by many to be the most promising of the young poets of the Harlem Renaissance.

5. Review your response to number 1 in this unit. Then explain how you have addressed the Georgia Performance Standard you said was a challenge for you. You should support this claim with evidence from your own work.Well in this Unit the vocabulary wasnty really a challange. It was really regular english.I just couldnt pronounce 1 word-Psychoanalysis
